New Adult Sunday School Class:

Join Pam BeMent for a two-week Sunday School class, “How To Slow Down In a

NASCAR World” beginning Sunday, October 9 at 9:15 am.  This class will meet in the downstairs classroom in the Education Building.


October Bridges of Hope Volunteers Needed:

We need volunteers for our October Bridges of Hope on Sunday, October 2.  We

need volunteers to prepare our chicken/stuffing casseroles that we serve to those in need at Central UMC in Kansas City, KS as well as volunteers to provide desserts.  If you can help us out, click on BRIDGES to sign up. 


Church Work Day:

On Saturday, October 15, we will have a Church Work Day to help out our Trustee

Board with some projects in and around the church.  We will have projects that all

ages and skill level can help with. A few of the big projects to complete are: remove

tub and add shelving in Education Building, rock delivery and spreading where needed,

remove trees and stumps, cut down weeds around the lagoon, and others.  If you have

Operation Christmas Child:

Our Basehor United Women in Faith are participating in Operation Christmas Child.

Shoeboxes are available if you would like to participate.  You can donate money or

pick up items to place in the shoebox.  If you would like to participate but don’t have

time to shop, contact Lindsey Anderton at 913-709-1047 or

Bless Basehor Day:

In lieu of worship and Sunday school on October 2, we will spend the morning sharing

BUMC’s love with our community!  There will be a variety of activities for all ages (from

serving at Bridges of Hope to writing notes to first responders to packing snacks for

veterans and more!).  Coffee and donuts will be served at 8:15 with activities starting

at 9.  More details to come!

Wednesday Morning Men’s Bible Study;

GAP Adult Sunday School Class New Study:

Our Sunday Morning at 9:15 GAP Sunday School class will begin a new study on Sunday, August 28.  It is a 10-week study titled, "Serious Answers to Hard Questions."  Each week we will have a thirty minute video by a prominent theologian followed by 15 - 20 minutes of discussion. Each week is an individual topic starting with Evil.  This class is led by Mike Burkard.  


Basehor UMC Choir Rehearsal:

Sunday School:

Our Sunday School classes meet Sunday mornings at 9:15 am. We have classes for children ages 3 and up, plus we have Couches and Conversation with Pastor Kyle for our Middle & High School Youth.  We also have our GAP (God’s Action People) Adult Sunday School Class that is currently studying 1 Corinthians.

Youth Group News:

Our Youth Group for grades 6 – 12 meet on Sunday evenings,  6 – 8 pm.  They will begin a new study series, “Never Give Up.”  Your youth will not want to miss this new study!!


Afternoon School Program Meal Program:

The Afternoon School Program (ASP) is a program for students in the Basehor-Linwood

School district looking for an alternative path to earn their high school diploma.  The

students attend the Basehor-Linwood Virtual School and attend ASP two days a week.

During the afternoon sessions, social and academic support to meet the needs of each

individual student is provided.  As part of the program, a meal is served to help support

nutritional needs as well.  We are asking for help to provide a meal for at least 20

people and have delivered to the BLHS by 3 pm.  If you can help us out, click ASPMEAL and sign up.  Thank you for helping the students in our community! 

Missions Committee FALL Activities:

Mark your calendars now for our fun Fall activities the Missions Committee is

busy planning.

  •          October 2 – Bless Basehor Days.  In lieu of church service, there will be

a variety of service opportunities, from packing snack bags for veterans to

serving at Bridges of Hope.  Something for everyone to participate in!

  •          Dust off your best large group recipes for our Bridges of Hope menu

Cook-Off!  Dishes will be sampled and favorites will be voted on to see how we want to shake up the menu at Bridges!

  •          November – we will have our BLAS Adopt-a-Family “giving tree.”
  •          More TBD activities for the fall.  Be on the lookout for more! 

Signs of Praise (sign language group):

Signs of Praise will be taking a break during the month of February.  Pam Maughmer will take that time to answer questions from anyone interested in joining, and preparing the song for our  next performance in May. We will resume practicing on Tuesday, March 1 at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary.  If you are interested in joining our group, please call Pat at 913-449-8489. 

Bible Study on ZOOM:

We host two Bible Studies on ZOOM each week, Monday evenings at 6:30 pm and Thursday mornings at 10 am. ZOOM link and information about the studies will be sent out on Mondays through email or contact the church office and we will get you the information.  

Prayer Shawls available:

Do you have a friend or family member going through a tough time? Is someone celebrating a milestone? We have prayer shawls available for you.  They are free to be picked up at our church office, we can mail you one or we can drop one off to you.  Just give Doris Ruffcorn a call at the church office at 913-724-2077 during office hours to set up a time to pick one up.  

Communion Cups “to go”:

We have pre-packaged communion “to go” cups available for you to pick up.  Call or

email the church office and let Doris know how many you would like and she will meet

you outside to pick them up.
